Typhoon "Marce" to Exit PH Friday Afternoon or Evening — PAGASA

MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Marce is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday afternoon or evening, according to the state-run weather agency PAGASA.

Nathaniel Servando, PAGASA administrator, said, "The typhoon will continue its westward movement and is forecast to exit PAR later today." He also noted that Marce is expected to weaken in the coming days due to dry air intrusion from the prevailing northeasterly winds.

At 11 a.m., PAGASA’s bulletin reported that Marce was located approximately 100 kilometers west-northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. The typhoon is moving west-southwest at 20 kilometers per hour (kph) and has maximum sustained winds of 140 kph, with gusts reaching up to 170 kph.

As of the latest update, the following warnings remain in effect:

  • Signal No. 2 is in place over the northwestern portion of mainland Cagayan (Claveria and Santa Praxedes), the western portion of Apayao (Calanasan and Kabugao), Abra, Ilocos Norte, and parts of Ilocos Sur, including areas such as Magsingal, San Esteban, and Vigan City, among others.
  • Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, the rest of mainland Cagayan, as well as northern and western Isabela, parts of Nueva Vizcaya, and several areas in the Cordillera region, including Kalinga, Ifugao, Benguet, and Mountain Province.
